Madelyn is the creator of Sense Writing, a writing technique designed for writers and non-writers alike to “bring blood” to the connections between our senses, imagination and movement.
Madelyn Kent is a playwright and director, as well as a longtime teacher at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. She has implemented innovative theater techniques with the Obie Award-winning Soho Rep, utilizing collaborations with “non-actors” (like Japanese housewives relocated to New York City, or Sudanese refugees in Tel Aviv) to form the Shufu Theater.
Together with Peggy Stafford, Madelyn has taught evening and weekend Sense Writing workshops at The Brooklyn Cottage.
