A Prospect Heights collective for creative experiments,
renewal, stillness and celebration. Welcome home.
Be. Play. Make. Offer. Join us.
Join us for The Fool, an evening of storytelling at The Brooklyn Cottage.
Fool for love, fool’s gold, pity the fool, a fool and his money, the fool on the hill, holy fool, April fools, fool me once, fool me twice. What do you take me for, a fool?
Come meet The Fool. A jester, a chaos-bringing truth-teller, the fool is a wise man and a wise woman, the fool is an oracle. The fool is a hopeless case, an emblem of haplessness, of loss of control: the fool gives in to impulse for us all. The fool pratfalls his or her way into a banana-peel-slipping display of ridiculous (and sometimes painful!) human comedy. The fool makes us human, the fool makes us laugh, the fool makes it okay for us to cry.
Have you ever played the fool? What kind of fool have you been? Have you ever been fooled, or have you known a holy, or a hopeless, fool? April is the month for fools. Come be a fool with us, tell us about your fool, and hear how the fool has come visiting in the lives of others.
Bring a bottle of something you like to drink; we’ll provide some snacks.
This storytelling night was conceived by Brooklyn Cottage collaborators Jondi Whitis and Kent Shell.
