Scent is the sense without words.
In this workshop, allow Julianne Zaleta–celebrated perfumer and founder of Herbal Alchemy Apothecary–to take you to that special place beneath language, in order to explore the artisanal art of natural perfumery and discover the scent you were destined to create! Students will start by being given a fuller appreciation for smell and its influence, a history of perfume, and an explanation for the advent of synthetic ingredients followed by a more recent return to natural materials.
You’ll then work with what you’ve learned to create two bottles of a signature perfume that could only be worn by you.
No prior knowledge of perfume-making required. Students should bring a notebook to class; all other materials will be provided.
