will kurtz artist

A native of Michigan, Will Kurtz spent many years working as a landscape architect in various locales around North America before gathering the courage, at the age of 50, to turn to art-making full-time. He graduated from The New York Academy of Art in 2010 and is now represented by the Mike Weiss Gallery in New York City. He was recently an adjunct art professor at Pennsylvania State University.

For The Brooklyn Cottage, Will taught “Sculpting Dirt,” a half-day workshop in which participants made use of clay, dirt, and other elements from the ground to create raw self-portraits.
